Under the Medicare Advantage program, private companies offer health plans that cover Part A (hospital) and Part B (medical) benefits as well as other benefits not offered under original medicare such as drugs, dental, and vision. This coverage can be elected to replace Original Medicare, often at no additional premium.
Original Medicare (Parts A&B) alone can leave you exposed to out-of-pocket costs such as deductibles and coinsurance, which are NOT capped by an out-of-pocket max i.e catastrophic accidents/illness could mean catastrophic costs. Enjoy the freedom that original medicare provides while a medicare supplement policy covers the rest.
